The Zines

This is the home of zines that Rob has created. Here you can find information about the various titles and issues that are available, and even those that are no longer in print.

**Note** : The zines here will only be available for trade. If you do not have a zine to trade, but would like to get a copy then I am open to taking stickers, patches, art (ATC’s etc), letters, buttons, or nearly anything you want to trade as long as it’s vegan! ;)

Printaissance : A Renaissance of Print

Printaissance is a per/litzine from Rob Bowen, a.k.a. The Angry Hippie, where he shares random thoughts, poems (both old and new exclusive works), and an occasional topical, insightful rant. With plenty of biting or insightful commentary and some bits of humor, Printaissance Poetry Periodicals are Rob’s contribution to the zine community. The last bastion of of the printed word!

Issue 4

The fourth issue is a socio-political lit zine which uses historical accounts, modern day headlines, poetry, angry hippie insights and more to compile this ranty look at the parallels in the fall of Rome and the looming fall of the ‘American’ Empire. It is titled The Fall of the American Empire as a foreshadowing, and foreboding, hint at this possible future that it seems the United States is barreling towards. This issue is certainly an opinionated romp through the darker side of our country and is not for the faint of heart.

Zero Hour

Zero Hour is unlike the other issues of Printaissance in some very key ways, while remaining true to some of the style and format that has made Printaissance so popular among ones of readers. A very random mix of rants, musings, poems, Dr. Who trivia/game and oh so much more that all came together in under 24 to meet the deadline for the 24hr. Zine Thing 2011. Just like all Printaissance issues there is a two page ‘centerfold’, this one contains a timeline of the construction of the zine itself. Overall, it is a very eclectic sort of issue. Both personal and political. Poetic and playful.

Issue 3

The third issue is once again a per/lit zine using a mix of personal anecdotes, original poetry, and some truly personal insights into my writing and the muses that guide my pen to fill the chapters of this newest zine. It is titled This is for my Muses and is focused on those literary inspirers of the written word!

Issue 2

This installment is a per/lit zine mixing personal anecdotes, original poetry, and some ranty socio-political commentary and myth busting to bring this new issue to life. It is titled 56 Herbs and is focused on that favorite gateway drug of choice for millions of people across the globe, Marijuana!

Issue 1

This first issue takes a hard look at the supposed death of print, the history of zines, and has some insight into the man holding the pen. Kicking off this inaugural issue with more prose than poetry, Rob puts his ranty hat on and goes to town. And when he gets back from town boy, does he have some stories to share…sorry, though…he forgot to pick you up the fries you asked for. What do you expect, he was probably stoned.

Ideological Hypocrisy

Ideological Hypocrisy is a socio-political zine by my partner, Persephone and myself which examines various groups in our society and the inconsistencies between their arguments and the way they live their lives. With the usual hints of humor, rants and rhymes that you would expect from this pair on these kinds of subjects, Ideological Hypocrisy seeks to take these groups down a peg or two by shining the harsh light of reality on their insincere actions.

Issue #1 – Pro-Life Abortions

In this inaugural issue we examine anti-choice activists who choose to have abortions. The zine contains many accounts from abortion doctors who have preformed abortions for pro-life activists, as well as accounts of violence perpetuated by the pro-life movement.
